Space Seed Holdings Pays a Courtesy Visit to the Regional Development Planning Agency of Gorontalo Province, Indonesia

On August 10, 2026, Kengo Suzuki, Representative Director and CEO of Space Seed Holdings Inc. (“the Company”), paid a courtesy visit to the Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA) of the Provincial Government of Gorontalo, Republic of Indonesia, and exchanged views with its Head, Dr. Wahyudin Athar Katili, S.STP, M.T., and senior officials.
The visit was joined by Ananda Setiyo Ivannanto, President Director of PT Awina Sinergi International, which runs renewable-energy and environmental-solutions businesses in Indonesia. Officials responsible for research and innovation, infrastructure, and regional development also attended, and the meeting turned into a cross-departmental discussion on how to build local industry from Gorontalo’s own resources.
Main participants
- Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA), Gorontalo Province: Dr. Wahyudin Athar Katili, S.STP, M.T. (Head), and other provincial officials
- Visiting delegation: Kengo Suzuki (Representative Director and CEO, Space Seed Holdings Inc.); Ananda Setiyo Ivannanto (President Director, PT Awina Sinergi International)
Background
Gorontalo Province lies in the northern part of Sulawesi and is a major producer of corn and coconut. Facing Tomini Bay to the south and the Sulawesi Sea to the north, it also has rich marine and fisheries resources.
The participants shared their views on the need to add more value to locally produced primary commodities and to make better use of unused resources such as agricultural residues. Gorontalo Province also has a track record of cooperation with Japan: it works with Ehime Prefecture on environmental themes including decarbonization and waste management.
Discussion
Mr. Ivannanto outlined the regional challenges facing Indonesia and Gorontalo Province, and the potential to create businesses that address them. Mr. Suzuki explained an approach that uses fermentation and other technologies developed in Japan over many years to raise the value of primary industries and create local industry. Three themes were discussed:
- Adding value to and branding agricultural and marine products: using fermentation and other processing technologies to turn local commodities into higher-value materials and products, and to build the region’s reputation as a place of origin.
- Advanced use of agricultural residues: in addition to biochar, the Company proposed using residues from corn and coconut as feed ingredients for poultry and other livestock, subject to appropriate processing and safety evaluation.
- Extension into fisheries: applying the same feed-ingredient and fermentation/processing approaches to aquaculture, toward a resource-circulation model that links agriculture and fisheries.
These proposals are built around a local circulation model in which unused resources are converted, as far as possible within the region, into higher-value materials and products that create new industries, jobs, and income.
Next steps
The visit was a courtesy call and exchange of views. Specific areas and forms of collaboration will be discussed further with the Provincial Government of Gorontalo and related organizations. The Company will continue to use science and technology to raise the value of regional primary industries, circulate unused resources, and create new regional industries in Japan and overseas.
