Mission
Space Seed Holdings Inc. is a space-focused deep-tech venture builder. Founded by Kengo Suzuki, who commercialised microalgae through the company Euglena, the holding pursues a single ambition expressed in our mission, “From science fiction to nonfiction.” Our core activities are SPACE LAB., a space-utilisation research business launching in March 2026, and the Fermentation and Longevity Fund, which invests in and incubates research-driven ventures. With fermentation and medicine as our primary fields, we aim to solve social challenges through the development and integration of new technologies, running theme discovery, investing in and incubating early-stage ventures, and partnering with universities and research institutes. Fully resource-circulating food and material production, built on fermentation, serves as a foundation that connects both to challenges on Earth and to humanity’s future survival beyond it.
A message from our representative
When I first succeeded in the outdoor mass cultivation of the microalga Euglena in 2005, the only application I imagined was food. Nearly two decades later, research into algae and microbes is no longer about Earth alone — it begins to connect to the question of how humanity might survive away from Earth.
Space Seed Holdings carries a single mission: to take science fiction into nonfiction. With fermentation and medicine as our primary fields, our work is to convert research into implementation. We do not operate launch vehicles, nor do we run crewed spacecraft. What we organise, instead, is the accumulation of small advances that happen in laboratories.
Looking towards 2040, our intention is to make sure the technologies humans will need to live in space are ready.
