Event Report: Space Bio Workshop, an event to promote the understanding and diffusion of space fermentation technology

Space Seed Holdings Ltd. and IDDK Co., Ltd are pleased to report that on Friday, August 16, 2024, Space Bio Workshop, an event aimed at promoting a broad understanding and dissemination of space fermentation technology, was held at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

Event report: Space Bio Workshop

After an ice break and an overview of the event, the session began with an explanation of space fermentation technology, which is attracting attention toward the challenge of sustainable food in space. The next session was about IDDK's MID technology (Micro Imaging Device) and laboratory automation in space, followed by a workshop on “MID Technology in Practice in Fermentation”.

The workshop was designed to allow participants to actually use the devices and software while learning about IDDK Corporation's MID technology and gaining insight into laboratory automation in space. Participants had a great time and enjoyed the opportunity to experience the latest technology!

Introduction of Speakers

Space Seed Holdings Ltd. CEO Kengo Suzuki

He co-founded Euglena in 2005 while studying for a master's degree at the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences; he received his PhD (Agriculture) degree in 2016 and his PhD (Medicine) degree in 2019. In addition to being the representative director of Space Seed Holdings Ltd, he is a team leader at RIKEN and Visiting Professor at the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology at University of Technology Malaysia, where he is responsible for the company's research and development.

IDDK Co., Ltd. Co-CEO and CFO Kohe Yoshioka

He is Co-CEO and CFO of IDDK Co., Ltd., a Japanese company with its cutting-edge microscopic observation technology, Micro Imaging Device. As Co-CEO and CFO, he is mainly responsible for financial management as well as the business strategy and the development of space bio experiment business. He also has been involved extensively in customer development and international marketing as well as establishing the company’s internal management, including finance and accounting, human resources, and general affairs.
